This is really symptomatic of the things to come. As the nursing and staff shortage starts to worsen the service quality of healthcare will start to fall. The Illinois Department of Public Health has fined a Peoria nursing home for not properly monitoring prescriptions and not preparing lab tests required by physicians.

The violation falls under the umbrella of the most serious fine that is given. The problems can be traced to inadequate staff and staff training problems. The home didn't assure that patients received the correct medications and lab tests weren't done as ordered or not carried out at all. The problems as all caused by a nursing and staff shortage. We will start to see more and more cases like this as the problem worsens.
